Members of the PRW Wealth Management Investment Advisory and Wealth Transfer Planning Teams regularly attend seminars, due diligence meetings, and workplace training initiatives in an effort to broaden their core competencies and client-servicing capabilities. Here is a brief update for the last quarter:
Team members Cheryl Mattar, Nina Mortel, Gary Wentling, and Stephanie Manchon took part in Schwab Solutions 2018, an all-day training event aimed at further developing usage of all the capabilities offered to the PRW team via our relationship with our custodian, Charles Schwab.
Chris Stone, Senior Wealth Advisor, attended a seminar held by BlackRock where they presented their mid-year market outlook, as well as a seminar presented by Eaton Vance regarding short-duration fixed income strategies. He and Wealth Advisor Jared Sweeney also met with professionals from Blackstone Group and HarbourVest, discussing new private client offerings for both private equity and alternative investment fund opportunities. Jared attended a seminar presented by Morningstar Direct as well.
Chris was joined by Chief Investment Officer Elliot Herman at an investment forum held by First Trust, where Chief Market Strategist Bob Carey spoke about the markets and the economy.
Janice Forgays, Estate and Wealth Management Counsel, attended an educational seminar on sophisticated planning for clients’ stock options and restricted stock units RSU(s). She also attended an educational seminar for attorneys on Blockchain Technology and Cryptocurrencies.
Cathy Dolphyn, Chief Compliance Officer and Director of Client Services, attended Schwab’s annual Compliance Update seminar which featured discussions on how to address various new practice protection issues including cyber/information security, custody, share class issues, employee supervision and education, and appropriate ADV provisions, e.g. conflict disclosures. She also attended The 2018 Global Leadership Summit, a two-day seminar presenting fresh and actionable ideas with the goal of transforming leaders globally through an injection of vision, skill development, and inspiration from world-class speakers. This year’s summit speakers included: Simon Sinek, John Maxwell, Juliet Funt, Carla Harris, Danny Meyer, and Sheila Heen.
Ted Dziuba, Director of Advanced Planning, attended a seminar on Improving Risk-Adjusted Portfolio Returns Using Life Insurance sponsored by AXA Financial. He also hosted meetings with representatives from Zurich Life, John Hancock, Pacific Life, Lincoln Financial, and Penn Mutual as part of his ongoing due diligence monitoring of PRW’s suite of investment-grade life insurance partnership carriers.
Lastly, in July, Executive Assistant Kristin Perry attended Redtail University, a training seminar which took a deeper dive into the functionality of our Client Relationship Management program. Building on that experience, PRW engaged a Redtail Trainer, who conducted onsite advanced and PRW-specific training in early August. Team members spent time in a group setting and one-on-one sessions to learn about additional capabilities the program affords us, which will allow us to better serve you, our clients.
