Members of the PRW Wealth Management Investment Advisory and Wealth Transfer Planning Teams regularly attend seminars, due diligence meetings, and workplace training initiatives in an effort to broaden their core competencies and client-servicing capabilities. Here is a brief update for the last quarter:
Chief Investment Officer Elliot Herman was joined by Senior Wealth Advisor Chris Stone at the 2018 Schwab Impact Conference, which was highlighted by appearances from former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen and former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card. The conference was filled with presentations from many of the top minds in the investment business. Thematically, the messaging suggested a slowing economy in 2019 but not a recession, with financial markets weighing in on earnings and political and economic activity as they play out.
The investment team of Elliot, Chris and Jared Sweeney held meetings with multiple investment firms for their thoughts on the markets and current asset positioning. These included T. Rowe Price, Blackrock, PIMCO, Blackstone and Brown & Co. The team also completed a portfolio model review with Blackrock where our models were stress-tested and feedback was provided where there is the potential opportunity for enhancement.
Chris was also a recent participant in two timely webinars: “Helping Executives Diversify with Company Stock” and “Deciphering Medicare choices”.
PRW Principal William Payne was joined in Dallas by Estate & Wealth Management Counsel Janice Forgays and Director of Advanced Planning Ted Dziuba for Lion Street’s Annual “Indaba” conference earlier this fall. A South African word describing the gathering of tribal leaders to share ideas about what is best for the community, this year’s “Indaba” conference was full of best practices and idea-sharing from some of the industry’s top insurance producers, and included a keynote speech by Mr. Payne regarding Multi-Family Offices.
Ted participated in webinars that covered the changing climate of the Secondary Market for Life Insurance (Life Settlements) and the development of Indexed Universal Life Insurance products after actuarial guideline 49. He also hosted meetings with representatives from Prudential, Symetra Financial, Mass Mutual and Allianz as part of his ongoing due diligence monitoring of PRW’s suite of investment-grade life insurance partnership carriers.
Chief Compliance Officer Cathy Dolphyn attended a number of webinars over the past few months, including: “Lion Street Operations”, “Conquering Current Compliance Challenges”, “The Future of Cybersecurity”, “Ethics: The Compliance Officer’s Role in Encouraging Your Firm to Do the Right Thing”, and “Findings from the 2018 Electronic Communications Compliance Survey Report”. Participation in these webinars enhances our ability to deliver Raving Fan service and protect our clients.
